Hello and welcome to Erika Fodor Acupuncture

I completed a three and a half year training for my Bachelor of Science degree in Acupuncture at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine and gained my degree from Kingston University as a Licensed Acupuncturist (LicAc). I combine traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element acupuncture along with cupping, gua sha and moxibustion.

Previously working as a psychologist and a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS),  I am skilled to professionally listen and respond and to be open and sensitive to my patients.

Each treatment is planned holistically and tailored to treat the physical and spiritual aspects of the person with the aim to help my patients return to optimum health.

My special interest is psycho-emotional wellbeing and trauma healing.

 you touch everything.

Five Element Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing system dating back thousands of years. It is based on the theory that energy -Qi flows through a network of connected meridians, which if in balance provide health and well-being. If the flow of Qi is blocked or in imbalance, symptoms will arise, and illness will occur. In treatment, we look the re-balance the system by finding the root cause of the illness and help the body to heal itself physically, mentally and spiritually.

There is growing scientific evidence, based on clinical research, showing how the body reacts to acupuncture in a wide range of conditions and validate the effectiveness of this complex healing system.

This style of acupuncture focuses on the emotional and spiritual distress that may cause physical problems too. It is thought that each individual resonates most strongly with one of the five archetypal elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water or Wood. The aim is to isolate the weakest element and support it back to health by restoring the balance and harmony among the five elements. As a result, the patients will feel better in themselves and live their life fully and consciously to their full potential. Seeking treatment for mental and emotional wellbeing, including stress and anxiety relief is one of the most common cases I see in the clinic.

What to expect on your first appointment

First appointments are now online, conducted from the convenience of your own home.

During the first consultation, we will discuss your medical history in complete confidence and the main complaint for which you are seeking treatment.

I would then normally carry out a range of diagnostic tests, which I am now going to  do on our first face to face appointement. These include pulse taking, looking at your tongue: the colour,  the tongue coating and the shape of the tongue itself. I often palpate specific acupuncture points, along with certain meridians. After gathering all the information, I create a unique treatment plan for you and will carry out the first treatment.

Moxa
Cupping

Cupping is widely used around the world in different traditions. Glass or silicone cups are placed on the skin by creating a vacuum which generates a lovely relaxing and relieving sensation.

It has a warming and invigorating effect: an exceptionally powerful technique in the treatment of musculoskeletal complaints,  acute or chronic pain, including menstrual pain and endometriosis.

Moxa is made of the herb Artemisia Vulgaris. There are various forms of it  like a cigar shaped moxa stick or cones. I use it on carefully selected acupuncture points for a warming and healing effect. This is a beautifully simple treatment for certain digestive problems, gynaecological conditions and breech presentation in late term pregnancy.

Gua sha

Gua sha is a very safe, effective and simple technique where a  jade tool is used in sweeping motions on the skin. It is a stimulating and soothing treatment for conditions such as a common cold, headache, muscle tension and even in case of morning sickness.
